Functional uses
As a body towel: Its primary function is to dry the body after bathing or to wipe away sweat while working.
As a cleaning cloth: It can be used for general household cleaning and dusting.
As a travel towel: Its compact size and lightweight material make it convenient for travel.
For protection from heat and dust: In rural areas, it is worn as a headscarf, similar to a Middle Eastern keffiyeh, to shield the head and neck from the sun. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it also became a common improvised face mask in rural India.
As a potli (carry bag): It can be used to wrap up small items like lunch or other essentials.
